Sobremesa Brûlée Blue
The Sobremesa Brûlée Blue comes from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, founded by Steve Saka. It is a refined variation of the Sobremesa Brûlée line, created to capture the creamy sweetness and subtle complexity of a well aged Cuban Davidoff from the 1980s/90s. The cigar measures 6 1/4 inches by 46 ring gauge in a grand corona vitola finished with a pigtail cap. It uses an Ecuador Connecticut Shade G2BW wrapper over a Mexican San Andrés Negro binder and Nicaraguan fillers, all produced at the Joya de Nicaragua factory. Only 1,000 boxes of 13 were released at launch in 2020 with an MSRP of $14.95, and each stick received at least one full year of post roll aging before shipping.

Review
First Third
This cigar is wild. How are these notes this sweet? It’s pure sugar at times, sweet vanilla cream and black coffee on the light. The aroma is pure bakery. First Third
Pepper shows on the retrohale and lightly on the finish. Toasted nuts arrive with a solid dose of spice on the retrohale. Sweet vanilla, coffee, and spices remain dominant, joined by a savory bakery/sweet-roll character I can’t quite pin down. Halfway through the first third, sweet cedar begins to emerge. It’s still overpowered by the sweet cream and candied nuts, but the profile is evolving. Coffee and pepper close out the finish. Very enjoyable. Nearing the end of the first third, more cedar and candied/roasted nut notes push forward. Sweet cedar builds on the retrohale and finish while the pepper eases back. Sweet cream stays strong on the palate.
Second Third
Sweet cream and cedar remain the primary notes. The pepper has smoothed out and receded. The sweetness refuses to quit (and I’m loving it), with cedar and pepper/spices trading the lead. At the midpoint, sweet cedar and candied spiced nuts take over. The draw tightens slightly. Cedar and sweet cream dominate the rest of the second third.
Final Third
The draw loosens a bit. Candied nuts become the lead flavor, with cedar and sweet cream still present but now joined by more noticeable roasted almond/candied nut character. Halfway through, cedar and pepper return more prominently. A sweet vanilla-coffee note joins the finish as sweet cedar reasserts itself. Nutty cedar with slightly less sweetness takes the stage. Near the end I’m getting a distinct Honey Nut Cheerio note on the palate and finish—sounds crazy, but it’s there. The cigar closes with plenty of sweet cedar, peppery coffee, and lingering honey sweetness. Right at the very end a touch of sweet earth appears, and in the context of this cigar it’s far more enjoyable than those notes usually are.
Overall
A consistently sweet, creamy, bakery-driven smoke with evolving cedar, nuts, coffee, and spice. Highly enjoyable from start to finish. Box worthy.
