Dunbarton Previews Overseas No. 2 for International Markets
Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust has previewed the next cigar in its international only Overseas series. Overseas No. 2 arrived in conversation this week during InterTabac activity, and Steve Saka shared the first clear picture of what the follow up to Overseas No. 1 will be, according to a preview published by Halfwheel.
The Overseas project exists so customers outside the United States can get limited production Dunbarton blends that rarely travel beyond American shops. Joya de Nicaragua makes the cigars and handles distribution in those markets. Overseas No. 1 used a 6 × 50 toro format. No. 2 steps down in ring gauge to 46, per Halfwheel's reporting, though the exact length hasn't been confirmed in this week's preview. It's worth noting that in a 2025 interview with Cigar Journal, Saka had referred to the No. 2 as a 6 x 48, so the final vitola may have shifted since then. Saka told Halfwheel that the two cigars share some of the same leaf families on paper, yet smoke very differently. He calls the new one bolder and more intense.
According to Saka's sales sheet, quoted by Halfwheel, the wrapper is a dark rosado Ecuador grown Habano seed leaf. The binder comes from Mexico. The filler mix leans on Nicaraguan sun grown tobacco plus a peppery Lancaster Seedleaf from the United States. Saka describes a profile that opens with bittersweet chocolate, dried figs, and a long red slim cayenne note. He adds that the cigar stays smooth at first, but the slimmer ring gauge lets strength and body climb steadily until a high strength finish.
Saka told halfwheel that release is aimed at spring 2027. The company expects to keep the blend in production into mid 2028 before Overseas No. 3 takes its place.
The preview gives international retailers and smokers an early look at the next numbered liga in the series. Pricing has not been announced because local taxes and duties vary widely from country to country. For now, the news is simply that the second chapter of Overseas has a blend, a size in progress, and a target window.
