Crowned Heads Mil Dias

Crowned Heads is a Nashville cigar company started in 2010 by Jon Huber and other former CAO colleagues. The brand works with a small group of Nicaraguan factories and is known for tightly focused regular production lines plus occasional limited runs.

Mil Días is Spanish for one thousand days. The name marks the stretch from 2017, when Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles first showed Jon Huber samples at Tabacalera Pichardo in Estelí, to the blend’s arrival in shops. Crowned Heads announced the line in July 2020 and began shipping it that September.

The original regular production cigars use an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper, a Nicaraguan binder, and filler from Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Peru. They launched in four sizes: Corona Gorda, Edmundo, Double Robusto, and Sublime. The line later added more vitolas, a separate Maduro blend in 2024, and a string of limited editions, all still made under Pichardo in Estelí.

First Third

Coffee, cedar, and pepper on the light. Chocolate and black coffee meld and continue, with a good amount of pepper on the retrohale and finish. Cedar is strong with pepper, and some black coffee on the finish. Cedar, coffee, and a good amount of pepper make up the first third of the cigar. Every once in a while, a chocolate milk note comes through. It's mainly coffee and pepper with varying amounts of cedar. Getting near the end of the first third, a slight sweetness comes out with cedar and chocolate; pepper has eased off some, with coffee and pepper on the finish.

Second Third

Starting the second third, the pepper kicks back up a little bit, and a slightly sweet floral tea note comes out as well — a great addition to the coffee, cedar, and pepper. The floral note continues, with cedar, coffee, and pepper on the finish. Earthiness is making its way into the profile, along with a little bit of leather; still some coffee and pepper on the finish. Earthiness along with pepper is coming through strongly just after the halfway point of the second third. Chocolate and pepper still on the finish. Getting near the end of the second third, the tea note comes out more distinctly, and the earthiness builds up some as well. At the end of the second third, the floral tea note continues. Coffee comes out a little stronger, with a slightly creamy chocolate on the finish.

Final Third

The final third starts with coffee and chocolate, very smooth. Pepper has died down from the second third. Leather starts to come out more prominently, with black coffee and a slight bit of pepper on the finish. Still very earthy overall. Toasted, woody notes come out, almost like a campfire — earthy coffee with pepper on the finish. A floral note comes out again, this time with some vanilla cream sweetness, very light but still there. Cedar comes out again alongside the floral notes, and the pepper has increased in the final third. Cedar, coffee, and pepper on the finish. Cedar, floral, and black coffee notes make up most of the flavor profile in the final third, with black coffee on the finish. A little bit of cinnamon comes out, as well as maybe nutmeg. Coffee, floral notes, and pepper on the finish.
