Tatuaje has announced a new installment of its Boris Karloff line, this time as a 6 1/4” x 47 grand corona. The cigar is priced at $15 each, or $300 for a box of 20, and production is capped at 2,000 boxes. Shipments to select retailers are scheduled to begin this week, timed so the cigars are on shelves ahead of Karloff’s birthday on November 23.
The blend pairs an Ecuadorian Sumatra wrapper with a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The cigars are made at My Father Cigars S.A. in Estelí, Nicaragua, and the line is produced under license from Karloff Enterprises / Sara Karloff. Tatuaje changes the vitola with every release, a nod to the actor’s reputation as a shape shifter who adapted to each role.
The Boris Karloff line debuted in January 2025 as a 5 5/8” x 49, followed by a 5 1/4” x 52 robusto in November 2025, making this grand corona the third size. Its roots go back to 2008, when The Boris arrived alongside The Frank at the start of the Monster Series, intended as the first cigar in a companion Actor Series that never fully took shape. Spin-offs followed in 2012, 2018, 2020 and 2025, and as Halfwheel and The Cigar Guys both point out, the 2020 Tatuaje Karloff grand corona was named Halfwheel’s Cigar of the Year.
