Gellis Family Essentials

Gellis Family Cigars is the line Kyle Gellis built under his family name, run alongside Warped and distributed by the same house. Essentials is the new core release from that project:

a 4½ x 32 petit corona meant as a daily, pocket-sized smoke. Ecuadorian Connecticut-seed wrapper and binder over Nicaraguan filler, made at Tabacalera La Isla in the Dominican Republic. First shown at PCA 2026, now shipping as a regular-production 50-count cabinet at $6.99 a stick, with a matching leather six-count case sold separately. Alongside the cigar, Gellis also released a six-count leather case built specifically for Essentials.

Review

First Third

Sweetness on the light, with pepper and earth. Some cedar coming through as well, with pepper on the finish. Pepper and cedar continue, with a little black coffee and pepper on the finish. A light dried fruit note has come out near the end of the first third, cedar and pepper on the finish with just little bits of black coffee as well.

Second Third

Starting the second third, a palpable creaminess is coming through clearly, with almost a tea or herbal note before the pepper and coffee/nutty notes take over on the finish. Nutty note is starting to come out stronger now in the second third. Pepper increasing as I'm at the end of the second third.

Final Third

Cream and pepper are the main notes in the final third, creamy with a slight nutty and coffee note and pepper on the finish. There's a note I'm not able to identify that's come through a couple times. There's an enjoyable note, some sort of baking spice note but I can't place it. Creaminess is still there with pepper on the finish. Almost getting a cinnamon oatmeal cookie note coming through, with lots of pepper on the finish. Right at the end, a toasted woody note. Almost like a campfire note is coming out. Cream and pepper on the finish.
