Xikar Xi2 Cutters Get Four Day of the Dead Designs Inspired by Regions of Mexico

WESTON, Fla. - Quality Importers Trading Co. has announced a Dia de Muertos series for the Xikar Xi2 cigar cutter, with four designs each based on skull art from a different part of Mexico, Halfwheel reported.

The holiday is observed Nov. 1 and 2 to honor the deceased, and skulls are central to it. The four models are:

Huichol: Inspired by artisans in the Sierra Madre Occidental, who press colored beads one at a time onto wax covered skulls. Their patterns often include fire, corn and the sun.

Alfeñique: Based on the sugar paste confections of the states of Mexico and Puebla, with neon bright icing swirls, detailed patterns and miniature marigolds.

Guerrero: Modeled on the hand painted clay and wood skulls of Guerrero, typically set against black or white and decorated with birds, jaguars, harvests and dances.

Cartonería: Drawn from the papier mâché skulls of Guanajuato, made from paper and flour paste, in colors such as pink, teal and yellow.

Mechanically, the cutters match existing Xi models. A pull down button releases the spring loaded blades from the teardrop body, and the cutter handles cigars up to 60 ring gauge.

Each sells for $59.99. The cutters will debut Oct. 17 at the QI Spotlight Trade Show, held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the company's Weston headquarters. The event is for retailers only and was last held in 2024. Companies scheduled to attend include Davidoff, Drew Estate, Espinosa Premium Cigars, Gran Habano, La Aurora and Villiger, among others.

Quality Importers president Marilyn Florez-Giordano said in a press release that the show is timed to let retailers in Florida and the Southeast stock up for the holidays. She added that not every retailer attends the large national shows, so the event brings one closer to home.
