From Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, the boutique maker founded by Steve Saka under the “puros sin compromiso” ethos, comes the Polpetta (Italian for “meatball”). This handmade puro elevates the sandwich style cigar using carefully sorted chaveta cuts from the brand’s top Broadleaf ligas: Mi Querida (including Triqui Traca and Black), Umbagog, and Red Meat Lovers. These are paired with two long leaf tripas, a San Andrés Negro binder, and outside cuts of Broadleaf capa.
Originally an event only release, it is now regular production in a compact 4 × 48 size, delivering a cool burning, well rolled smoke with rich, robust flavor.

Polpetta (Italian for “meatball”) is handmade from best chaveta cuts and table trimmings of Dunbarton’s Broadleaf ligas, bound in San Andrés Negro and wrapped in Broadleaf. This playlist is the same idea: jazz alternate takes and outtakes with the session’s flavor. Nothing wasted, all flavor
Review
First Third
The cigar opens right away with a barbecue or mesquite wood flavor off the initial light. Cedar, pepper, and spice come through consistently for most of the third. Near the end, a definitive cinnamon note appears. The finish is very smooth, with creamy coffee and cinnamon spice. Cinnamon, spices and pepper continue at the end of the first third.
Second Third
Creaminess starts to come through alongside an earthy coffee note, and the finish carries cream and spice. A second wave of cinnamon arrives with a touch of light leather, and the finish still has cream and spice.
Final Third
The final third starts with leather and pepper. The creaminess is very faint now but still slightly noticeable on the finish. The earthy note grows and is much more pronounced than in the second third. Roasted coffee, dark bittersweet chocolate, and a touch of a smoked woody note and earthiness. Black pepper has become the star late, joined by a bit of baking spice.
