Caldwell Long Live The King Bar-None
Caldwell Cigar Co. was founded by Robert Caldwell in 2014 with a focus on small batch cigars built from well aged and often rare tobaccos. The company has developed a reputation for distinctive branding and creative blends across its portfolio, which includes several regular production lines and frequent limited editions.
One of the brand’s original and longest running offerings is Long Live The King. Introduced at the company’s launch, the line has traditionally featured a Dominican Corojo wrapper and binder paired with a filler blend that draws from Dominican, Nicaraguan, and Peruvian leaf. Production historically took place at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic.
In 2023 Caldwell released Long Live The King BAR NONE as a limited edition extension of the core line. This version is a Dominican puro that uses Cuban seed tobacco for both the wrapper and binder. It is produced at Francisco “Chico” Rivas’ Manufactura Rivas factory in the Dominican Republic. The release is offered in two sizes; Robusto (5 x 50) and Toro (6 x 52), with each limited to 500 boxes of 20 cigars. It first appeared at the 2023 PCA Convention & Trade Show and began shipping to retailers later that summer.

Review
First Third
Peppery hay notes on the light, great aroma. Creamy nutty notes, with slight pepper on the finish. Some slight cedar is coming in on the aroma and palate, nutty finish with a little pepper. Intense salty peanuts, with a creamy finish. Some cedar on the finish. Salted peanut notes continue, with the cedar becoming more present now. Great draw, great ash. After the initial light, the pepper died down, getting to the end of the first third, some of the peppers coming back to the finish. Nutty coffee notes on the end of the finish.
Second third
Getting into the second third of the cedar is starting to overtake on the palate, still some nutty peppery notes on the finish, and still some creamy vibe's overall. Second, third has definitely more creaminess than the first. Third, where is the first third had creamy nutty notes, this is primarily sticking to the creamy, with the evers so slight white pepper on the finish. Some of the salted peanut nuts are coming back as well, still with it ever since like pepper on the finish. Has the second third continues more nutty notes, and even a slight coffee note as well on the palate and on the finish.
Final third
Getting into the final third creaminess has died down replaced by cedar and some spice with still some salted peanuts as well. Pepper on the finish. There's another note as well that I'm having a hard time finding, but it's a semi-savory note. There's a slight sweetness on the finishes where I'll, but very very mild. At the halfway point of the final third pepper has become much stronger, cedar is still present and there's a mix of cedar and nuts on the palate, pepper on the finish. Smoke is finally getting hotter in the final third, earthy cedar with nuts on the pallet, and a nutty peppery finish.
