Cigar smokers with a taste for the spooky season have something to look forward to this fall. Alec Bradley, is once again releasing its Halloween themed barber pole cigar, the Black Market Filthy Ghooligan. This marks the third straight year the seasonal smoke has hit shelves, and the 2026 version is set to begin arriving at retailers in September, with production capped at 1,950 boxes.
A Halloween Twist on a St. Patrick's Day Favorite
The Filthy Ghooligan traces its roots back to the Alec Bradley Black Market Filthy Hooligan, a cigar that has been a St. Patrick's Day tradition for over a decade. That original release built its identity around a green candela wrapper twisted together with other leaves in a striking barber pole pattern. When Alec Bradley decided to give Halloween its own version a few years back, the brand swapped out the bright green candela for something darker and more fitting of the season.
Instead of candela, the Filthy Ghooligan pairs Ecuadorian Habano with US Broadleaf for its barber pole exterior. The combination gives the cigar a moodier, shadowy look on the outside while setting up a blend that pulls from seven different tobaccos in total.
What's Inside the Blend
Underneath the twisted wrapper leaves sits an Indonesian Besuki binder. The filler mix draws from several regions, combining Nicaraguan tobacco grown in Jalapa, Estelí, and Condega with Dominican Piloto leaf rounding things out. All of this comes together in a cigar built in Honduras, continuing the country of origin used in prior editions.
As with previous releases, Alec Bradley is keeping things simple on the size front. The Filthy Ghooligan will once again be offered in just one vitola, a 6 by 50 toro, so there is no guessing about which format to look for on shelves.
Limited Numbers for 2026
Scarcity has always been part of the appeal with this release, and 2026 keeps that tradition alive. Boxes are limited to 1,950 total, a modest bump from prior years, which should keep demand high once the cigars start showing up at shops in September.
