Warped Isla Del Cocodrilo
Warped Cigars, the boutique house led by Kyle Gellis, introduced Isla del Cocodrilo at the 2024 PCA Convention. The line takes its name from Cuba’s long-standing nickname; “island of the crocodile”, a nod to the island’s distinctive shape.
Rolled at Tabacalera La iSLA in Santiago, Dominican Republic, the original regular production blend uses an Ecuadorian Habano deflorada wrapper over a dual binder of Ecuadorian Habano 2000 and Brazilian Arapiraca, with Nicaraguan fillers. It first shipped in summer 2024 in two sizes, Corona Gorda and Toro. The line has since grown with additional vitolas and limited variants while remaining a core Warped offering.

Review
First Third
Slightly sweet cedar and pepper, with an immediate tea or herbal note on the retro and finish. Slight sweetness lingers. The herbal or tea note disrupting to a coffee note, still with cedar and slightly sweet peppery notes. Coffee and floral notes come through, with coffee and pepper on the finish. The cedar comes out more as I get near the end of the first third, with slight dried fruity notes, almost a berry like note with a very slight sweetness. Still coffee and pepper on the finish.
Second Third
Slightly creamy, nutty notes coming out along with the dried fruit note. Dried fruit also on the aroma. Creamy coffee with a little pepper on the finish. Cedar comes out more in the second third, with more of an earthy quality. Still coffee and pepper on the finish. A slightly sweet fruity note, coffee continues with light pepper. A light leather note comes out alongside the coffee.
Final Third
Creamy, slightly sweet. Leather and cedar. Creamy coffee and pepper on the finish. Earth becomes more dominant heading into the final third, joined by a charred wood note. A deeper mocha and dark chocolate sweetness comes through late, adding some richness against the earthier notes. The retrohale picks up a bit more pepper, with a touch more spice than earlier. The finish takes on a slightly savory, mineral quality, carrying that way to the end.
