Adventura The Chancellor

ADVentura Cigars is a boutique brand created through the partnership of Swiss retailer and sommelier Marcel Knobel and Dominican master blender Henderson Ventura. The company builds its releases around an ongoing adventure inspired narrative that explores the origins and journey of tobacco. The Chancellor joins the Royal Return series as a limited edition release created in collaboration with longtime ADVentura “right hand man” Adrian Acosta under the brand’s Elite Broker Program (The Elite Broker Program is an internal ADVentura initiative that gives its highest-performing brokers the chance to create their own limited-edition cigar in collaboration with the brand’s founders). Offered exclusively in a 6 x 52 Toro format, the cigar features a Corojo wrapper over a Dominican binder and a filler blend that incorporates Sumatra seed tobacco. It is produced at Tabacalera Mina del Rey in the Dominican Republic in a one time run of 20,000 cigars.

Review

First Third

Very light chocolate on the light with some salted peanuts, and a little bit of sweet cedar. Almost no pepper on the retro hail, very smooth. Enjoyable aroma, looks to be of great construction so far. Light chocolate notes and cinnamon spice continues, but maybe even a fruity note to it as well. Cedar and sweet nuts, sweet chocolate on the finish. Sweet nutty coffee notes continue as I get near the end of the first third. Some cedar is coming out on the pallet and on the finish, still extremely light. Light spice on the finish. Every once in awhile the sweetness comes through, but not overpowering. 

Second Third

And the start of the second third I'm noticing the cedar more, black coffee, and a faint salted peanuts on the finish. Sweetness is starting to come through more now with the chocolate, and slightly fruity notes, almost a creamy flavor. Lots of smoke great draw. Sweetness continues with a little more pepper on the palate, but very sweet and smooth finish. Sweetness continues with a little buttery black coffee on the finish. There is a buttery popcorn note to the finish, along with some growing pepper. Still good amount of sweetness on the palate. Pepper continues to grow where it's now noticeable on the finish, still a decent amount of sweetness, not too much else, enjoyable but not complex. Getting to the end of the second third, the peppers still continues to build slowly, with some earthiness coming through as well, still some sweetness but not as present as it was in the first half. 

Final Third

In the final third the pepper is really ramping up, but the strength is staying still very medium or mild. The sweetness has died down some, there's still some semi-sweet nuts and earthy notes. Pepper is turned into a full defining note, along with the sweet earthiness, and a slight black coffee on the finish. The butteriness is certainly not as present as it was in the second third. Had to relight, the pepper is very strong now, I had a note of graham cracker and coffee, and the sweetness is all but disappeared. Cigar went out again so I'll end it there.
