Plasencia Announces El Año de la Cabra Limited Perfecto for December

Plasencia Cigars has formally introduced El Año de la Cabra, the latest entry in its annual series tied to the Chinese Lunar New Year and zodiac calendar. This marks the seventh consecutive year of such releases from the company. The new cigar arrives as a perfecto vitola measuring 6 1/4" x 60. Production takes place at the Tabacos de Oriente factory in Honduras, a notable shift because prior editions in the series were rolled at the company’s facility in Estelí, Nicaragua.

The blend draws on a Honduran wrapper grown in the Azacualpa region. The binder comes from the Jamastrán Valley in Honduras. Fillers combine additional Honduran tobacco from the same valley with Nicaraguan leaf from Estelí that was grown under Plasencia’s organic farming program. Packaging follows the red and gold color scheme used in previous Lunar New Year releases, reflecting cultural associations with those hues. Each box of ten cigars includes ten cardboard sleeves intended for individual gifting.

Production is limited to 6,000 boxes, for a total of 60,000 cigars. Suggested retail pricing stands at $60 per cigar, or $600 for a box of ten. Plasencia expects shipments to begin in early December, ahead of the Year of the Goat that begins on February 6, 2027.

In comments shared through industry reporting, Néstor Andrés Plasencia described the goat as representing a quiet but powerful strength that comes from patience, balance, and an instinctive connection to nature. He noted that those qualities align with the family’s approach to tobacco across more than 160 years. The company positioned the release as bringing together the character of its Honduran and Nicaraguan tobaccos in a distinctive expression rooted in the land.

As reported by Halfwheel, the formal announcement follows an earlier preview of the cigar at a major European trade show. Retailers and consumers who follow Plasencia’s seasonal limited editions now have confirmed details on timing, construction, and pricing as the holiday period approaches.
