Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Connecticut

The Perdomo Legacy line was created by Nicholas Perdomo III as a tribute to his father. Father & Son is a limited extension of that line and a collaboration between Nick Perdomo Jr. and Nicholas Perdomo III. The Connecticut version was blended jointly by father and son. It uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over a Nicaraguan Shade Grown binder and aged Nicaraguan fillers from the company’s farms in Condega, Jalapa, and Estelí.

Review

First Third

Very creamy with pepper on the light, along with nutty notes and a slight sweetness on the finish. The draw is perfect. A light straw or dry hay note appears, followed by nutty coffee on the finish. The coffee note lingers with a long finish. Toasted cashew and peanut notes join the coffee, coating the palate. Slight sweetness returns. Strong coffee notes remain consistent through the end of the third, paired with mild creamy sweetness. Peanut and cashew notes alternate with the coffee. Strength sits at medium.

Second Third

Pepper returns after being largely absent. Sweetness and creamy notes continue, now with a woody character. Peppery coffee appears on the finish, which remains long. Hay returns with a grassy touch. The finish resembles a sip of coffee. Sweetness becomes more noticeable near the halfway point, developing into a candied nut and coffee combination. A salty sweet peanut note emerges with coffee and dry hay on the finish. Creamy nutty notes are pronounced on the palate and finish, with occasional dry hay.

Final Third

Earthy pepper mixes with the creaminess. Pepper and a more bitter black coffee note appear on the finish. Earthy nutty notes continue. Pepper gradually overtakes the coffee. Peppery hay notes persist, with nutty black coffee on the finish. A very slight sweetness returns, though the main flavors are earthy and peppery with a light creamy undertone. Complexity decreases compared to the earlier thirds. Coffee, mixed nuts, and hay remain the primary notes through the end. The draw on this cigar was almost too perfect, I did use a guillotine cut, which allowed maximum air flow, but maybe a V or crown cut (double V) would have given a little more resistance, which might have improved the end of the cigar since it became a challenge to draw on the end of the cigar without overheating it due to how easy the air came thru from the guillotine cut. For the Perdomo Sun Grown Legacy Father & Son I will try the V or double V.
