Oz Family Maracana Robusto
Maracana is Tim Ozgener going back to Brazilian wrapped cigars under Oz Family Cigars, named for Rio’s Maracana Stadium. After CAO, retailers and consumers would mention CAO Brazilia and ask him to make something similar, he told Halfwheel. He also said this is the first My Father cigar to use Brazilian tobacco, which is something in itself momentous.

Review
First Third
Some savory notes on the light, almost a beefy note. Pepper on the retrohale, and more savory notes and spices on the palate. Lots of thick smoke, very enjoyable. A dry nutty note is coming out as well with the peppery savory notes. A very light floral note is coming through with the continued steak/savory notes and spiced nuts. Clean finish. Lots of savory notes on the palate, but there’s a sweetness to the aroma which is a really nice contrast. Getting near the end of the first third. Some earthy notes are starting to come through with the spice, almost a hint of chocolate but very, very little of that.
Second Third
Getting into the second third, all notes becoming much more pronounced, and a slight sweetness has grown from the first third. A relatively short finish. Wonderful aroma. The semi-sweet floral and earthy notes continue and even grow in the second third. Very flavorful, still lots of smoke. Slight coffee is adding to the finish and the finish is lengthening. At the halfway point of the second third, more chocolate and nuts are starting to come out, so a lot of savory, earthy, and floral notes, with some espresso and nuts on the finish. This cigar has one of the most enjoyable retros I’ve ever experienced; very smooth retro full of savory exotic spices, but still maintaining a smooth feeling. Heavy espresso on the finish.Getting into the final third, more chocolate notes are coming out, along with a dark espresso note that continues through the finish. Some hints of leather here and there, still overall a savory experience.
Final Third
Some more leather is coming out in the final third. Some of the floral notes are still there but not as prominent as the previous third. Dark espresso on the finish, and the cigar is ramping up its strength. Floral notes coming back ever so slightly. The retrohale is not quite as smooth as it was before, but still very enjoyable. Some leather notes and black coffee notes come through on the finish. Getting closer to the end of the cigar, lots of leather and black coffee notes coming through. Finishing the cigar, leather and black coffee notes still remain strong and the retro has smoothed out some. Also, there are some slight nutty notes as well on the finish. Overall an amazing experience. Can’t wait for my next one.
