Oliva Adds New Nub Mexico Blend for October

Oliva Cigar Co. is adding a Mexican wrapper cigar to its Nub lineup. The new blend, called Nub México, is debuting this week at InterTabac, the cigar and tobacco trade convention in Dortmund, Germany, and is projected to reach U.S. retailers in early October 2026.

The cigar uses a Mexican grown wrapper over an all Nicaraguan binder and filler. (Note: I couldn't independently verify a specific "medium body, slight spice" flavor description in the two primary reports — if you have that from another source, it's worth keeping, but I'd hold it loosely.) The cigars are rolled at Tabacalera Oliva S.A. (Tabolisa) in Nicaragua.

Two sizes are planned, both named for their dimensions:

• Nub México 460 — 4 inches by 60 ring gauge, $10.83 per cigar / $259.92 per box of 24. Ships to all markets, U.S. and international.

• Nub México 464T — 4 inches by 64 ring gauge, a torpedo, $11.16 per cigar / $267.84 per box of 24. U.S. exclusive.

Both vitolas will ship in wooden, slide lid boxes of 24, with box and band artwork inspired by Mexico's ancient Aztec heritage — a nice thematic tie to the Mexican wrapper leaf.

Nub México joins the existing core Nub wrapper lineup: Habano, Maduro, Cameroon, and Connecticut.

Some context on the Nub format itself: It dates to 2008, created by Sam Leccia working with the Oliva family (also behind Oliva's Serie V and Serie O lines) under Oliva's Studio Tobac division. The concept was built on the idea that a cigar typically hits its flavor "sweet spot" 3 to 4 inches into the burn — so Nub cigars compress a full length cigar's core experience into a short, fat format (roughly 4 inches, with ring gauges historically spanning 56 to 66) that delivers that concentrated middle character from the first draw, while still burning as long as a full size cigar.
