Warped Corto Maduro
The Corto line first appeared in 2015 as one of Warped’s earlier fuller bodied offerings; an all Nicaraguan blend originally wrapped in Corojo and designed as a compact, flavorful short smoke. A decade later, the Corto Maduro arrived in 2025 as a bolder evolution of that classic. It features a dark Mexican San Andrés maduro wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and fillers that include a generous portion of potent Medio Tiempo leaf from Estelí. Produced at the NACSA factory in Nicaragua.

Review
First Third
Earthy and woody notes on the light, with lots of pepper on the retrohale. Cedar comes through alongside the earthy notes and pepper on the finish. Plenty of smoke output. A hint of chocolate appears on the finish. Being a short cigar, I’m already approaching the halfway point of the first third. Espresso notes start to emerge along with a touch more chocolate. Still lots of smoke; the pepper is not quite as aggressive as the initial light. but remains very present. An enjoyable coffee finish develops. The cedar-woody note builds, accompanied by a slightly sweeter coffee finish and some lingering pepper. Near the end of the first third, sweetness begins to come through as the flavors continue to evolve.
Second Third
Light sweetness becomes more prominent. Espresso and slight chocolate notes persist. Sweetness and spice stay consistent, joined by a woody chocolate character. Woody spices, coffee, and light chocolate dominate, with sweet cedar emerging and a light spice on the finish. Very light spice pairs with the sweet cedar. Some earthiness returns with the woody notes, and espresso appears on the finish with a touch of light pepper. Medium to long finish.
Final Third
Strength picks up while sweetness recedes. Nuttiness enters the mix. Cedar and earth take the lead, supported by light sweetness and pepper on the finish. Dark cherry and a slight spicy chocolate note appear, a great addition. The dark cherry is enjoyable but short lived; more woody espresso notes come through with slight pepper on the finish. Strength has ramped up a bit. The smoke stays mostly cool even near the end, which is rare and appreciated. Burn has been consistent with only one minor touch up. Espresso and light pepper close out the finish.
