Cavalier Genève Black Series II Lancero
The Cavalier Genève Black Series II Lancero is a limited-production cigar that puts the spotlight on one of the industry's most demanding vitolas. Measuring 7 x 38, it features a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over a Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. Like every cigar in the Black Series II line, it's finished with Cavalier Genève's signature 24-karat gold diamond that has become the brand's calling card.

Initial Light
On the light the aroma is nutty woody cedar and leather. It reminds me of the first cigar aroma I ever experienced. Classic in every way. Chocolate cake and black coffee on the retrohale. Little to no spice. Incredible aroma. First third brings nutty baking spices and a clean coffee finish. Some dark cherry mixed with coffee and leather. Cedar comes through as I hit the halfway point of the first third. I cannot get enough of this aroma. Strong nutty coffee notes paired with dark cherry. Smooth coffee finish with just a hint of spice. As I finish the first third cedar and spice become stronger. Nice back and forth between the cedar and the nutty coffee with slight spice and leather on the finish. Long finish. Sitting with it a green tea flavor starts to emerge which is interesting.
Second third
Starting the second third that tea flavor continues but the main notes are still nutty sweet dark cherry with some coffee and tea on the finish. Dark cherry chocolate ramps up with some spice. As the second third continues more cedar and nutty leather takes over even if only for a puff or two. Black coffee on the finish. Pepper still on the low side. Slight tunneling at the halfway point but no bother. Still lots of nutty leather flavor. This cigar is so enjoyable I find myself needing to slow down and enjoy it so I do not waste the experience.Finishing the second third still lots of nutty coffee notes with dark cherry and some spice. Black coffee and leather on the finish. More leather picks up on the next draw alternating with dark cherry and spices.
Final third
Leather and dark chocolate start to settle in as I start the final third. The chocolate notes are amazing with some pepper on the finish. As the chocolate subsides coffee dark cherry and leather come through more. Black coffee on the finish. More sweetness coming through and I start to feel some of the strength in the final third. Great experience so far.Halfway through the final third still lots of dark cherry and coffee notes with some cedar coming back into the profile. Light pepper on the finish with some leather eventually. Long finish.
As I near the end cedar and nutty notes rush back in bringing me full circle to where we started. A final draw brings a rush of coffee cedar and dark chocolate. An amazing experience. I have had this cigar more than once, and I can't wait for the next one.
