Perdomo Legacy Father & Son Natural Shade Grown

Perdomo Cigars, founded in 1992 by Nick Perdomo Jr. and his wife Janine, is a family operation rooted in Cuban cigar making and built in Nicaragua. In 2025, Nicholas Perdomo III introduced Perdomo Legacy as a 60th birthday tribute to his father, a regular production line centered on the company’s Nicaraguan Shade Grown tobacco, a hybrid of habano and Cameroon seed developed on the family farms.

Perdomo Legacy Father & Son, released in 2026, extends that line as the company’s first limited production offering and a direct collaboration between father and son. The Shade Grown is the blend Nick Perdomo Jr. created himself, using that hybrid leaf for both wrapper and binder, with filler from Condega, Estelí, and Jalapa drawn from rare 2011 to 2016 lots. It is offered in one size, a box pressed 6 x 48/60/52 Gran Figurado.

Curated Music Playlist

Legacy was the son’s line. Father & Son is the session they cut together: Nick on the Shade Grown, Nicholas on the Maduro, both of them on the Connecticut. This playlist brings Duo jazz, mentors and heirs, older records sitting next to the players who learned from them.

Review

First Third

Chocolate, cedar, and a savory-sweet note on the light, with a Tootsie Roll sweetness. A sweet leather emerges, with a savory note on both the palate and the aroma. Salted peanuts on the palate, with chocolate and pepper on the palate and finish. Smoky black coffee on the finish, almost like a campfire note. Cedar, coffee, chocolate, and pepper on the finish. Chocolate and cedar come through, still with a slight campfire note. An earthy note emerges alongside the chocolate, then big dark chocolate notes. Cedar and earth on the finish.

The draw was comfortable, with a slight amount of resistance at the halfway point of the cigar.

Second Third

Baking spices, chocolate, and cedar. The smoky campfire note continues, with baking spices, pepper, and unsweetened dark chocolate on the palate and finish. Pepper is more present than in the first third, especially on the finish, where a natural tobacco sweetness appears. The draw now has virtually no resistance.

Chocolate, baking spices, and a peppery, woody note come through on the palate, with coffee and slight pepper on the finish. Cedar becomes more prominent, continuing with the baking spices, which are now clearly anise. Chocolate and cedar remain strong, and a creamy note comes through in a big way. Creamy cedar notes with salted peanuts on the finish.

Final Third

A slight dark cherry note comes out with the cedar and chocolate, along with creamy coffee and very slight pepper on the finish. A light orange peel or citrus note appears, which I believe is coming from the chocolate and cedar. Creamy coffee remains on the finish, and the pepper is almost non-existent.

Cedar, cream, and black coffee on the palate and finish, while the pepper fluctuates from non-existent to big notes. Anise and cinnamon start to come out with the black coffee and natural tobacco sweetness. Near the end of the cigar, the chocolate notes become much more noticeable and the pepper becomes more consistent. Creaminess with spices lingers on the finish.
