La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor

La Aroma de Cuba began as a Cuban brand in the late 1880s and is often linked to Winston Churchill, who encountered the name during his time on the island in 1895. The trademarks later passed to the Levin family of Ashton Distributors, who revived the line in 2002 as a Honduran-made cigar.

In 2009 production moved to Estelí, Nicaragua, where José “Pepín” García and his family blend and roll the cigars at My Father Cigars. Mi Amor was the first major extension after the move. Developed over about two years and released in 2010, it was also Ashton’s first cigar dressed in a Mexican San Andrés wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler.

Ashton owns the brand and handles distribution, but the cigars themselves are blended and rolled by the García family at their My Father factory in Estelí; the same spot that makes the rest of the current La Aroma de Cuba lineup.

First Third

Chocolate and pepper notes on the light, with a sweet coffee and slightly pepper finish. Coffee notes continue, with also a sort of Woody note is well. Dark Cherry note is added to the chocolate note, also a creamy nutty note as well added to the coffee. Coffee notice continuing with chocolate, also a savory note has added as well, along with almost a rosewood or cedar note. Getting near the end of the first third coffee, cedar, and lots of dark chocolate notes, along with a creamy nuttiness on the finish.

Second Third

Starting the second third, a sentiment note is adding to the coffee and dark chocolate note, still a creamy nutty finish. Pepper and spices are getting a little stronger in the second third, with dark chocolate and cinnamon, with spices and pepper on the finish. Pepper and earthiness are picking up in the second third, still is some spices and chocolate, spices and pepper on the finish. More pepper on the finish, still a slight creamy note every now and then and the dark chocolate notice still pretty strong as well. Slight coffee notice coming out on the finish. 

Final Third

Starting the final third, there's still a slight sweetness, as well as the continuing chocolate note, coffee and pepper on the finish. The rosewood and cedar note is coming back out, getting strong Woody notes, with pepper on the finish. Salted peanuts and dark chocolate coming through, the chocolate is not as sweet as before, but still very enjoyable. Coffee and pepper on the finish. Creamy chocolate note coming through with the Woody and cedar notes continuing, pepper on the finish. Creamy and spicy Woody notes continue, chocolate is dyed down some, lots of pepper on the finish.
