Espinosa Crema Corona

Espinosa Crema is the milder side of Espinosa Premium Cigars, the company Erik Espinosa built after his years with the 601 brand. The line came out in 2016 as Espinosa’s first Connecticut-wrapped cigar, made at La Zona in Estelí, Nicaragua. It uses an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper over Nicaraguan binder and filler, and was built as a lighter entry into a portfolio that had leaned medium to medium-full. The original release was three sizes: Robusto, Toro Grande, and Churchill; with later additions such as the Crema Rabito.

First Third

Creamy, sweet cedar on the light, with earthy pepper and a slight sweetness on the finish. Good amount of pepper on the retrohale, with creamy cedar and pepper on the finish. Creamy and slightly sweet, and it continues, with a creamy pepper finish. A coffee note comes into the mix alongside the creamy pepper. Creamy, peppery coffee are the main notes of the first third, with a creamy coffee and peppery finish.

Second Third

The sweetness and creaminess come out more, with an added earthy or hay note and a nutty coffee finish. The earthy note is new in the second third. The peppery, creamy notes continue, with creamy pepper and hay on the finish. Cedar starts to come back halfway through, and the cream becomes more pronounced. Hard to believe that's even possible, but the flavor continues to grow. Toward the end of the second third, the hay and cedar notes come out more. Still creamy coffee on the finish, with some pepper.

Final Third

Starting the final third, the hay note comes out on the aroma, along with a slight hint of cinnamon oatmeal raisin cookie. Very slight, but it's there. The pepper starts to increase, with a very peppery, creamy finish, light coffee notes, and just a hint of sweetness. The final third gets very peppery, and the creaminess is dialed back a little. Cedar and a slight citrus note come thru, slightly creamy pepper on the finish. Pepper continues to increase on the palate and on the finish.
