Check out our Crowned Heads Music Pairings
Last week, Crowned Heads posted a cryptic Instagram photo of an unbanded cigar with the caption “Something new is taking shape. Wrapped in silence. Crafted with intention.” The post noted that the brand would be able to say “I told ya so” when March 6, 2027 arrives; 144 days out, and described it as the start of “a new chapter.”
In a recent update, founder Jon Huber confirmed that the teaser points to a new Connecticut cigar set to debut at the 2027 PCA trade show.
Huber explained that he had been holding a pre-release sample from the factory’s final validation bundle. After placing an order for additional bundles of each of the final three vitolas, he decided he couldn’t wait any longer. He lit one of the samples, noting that it is smoking “phenomenally well” and that he is looking forward to the additional samples arriving soon.
He also shared the thinking behind the project. While he has never been particularly drawn to the Connecticut segment, he said he kept hearing that Crowned Heads needed a strong entry in the category. Huber outlined two common approaches to Connecticut cigars: the classic ultra-creamy, buttery, easy-smoking style that some find one-dimensional, and the more recent “not your grandfather’s Connecticut” releases that lean heavily into pepper. His goal was to land somewhere in the middle; retaining the cream and butter notes while adding enough character, strength, complexity, and a touch of white pepper to appeal to modern smokers.
Huber did not reveal the factory, blend details, or other production specifics, saying more information will come in the weeks ahead. He added that the project is roughly 135–140 days from PCA and remains on track for a timely launch.
